Gooding County Clerk Office
The Gooding County Clerk, Auditor & Recorder page is the county-local source for the office address, phone, fax, hours, recorder questions, marriage-license requirements, passports, recording fees, and clerk contact information. The Fifth Judicial District separately identifies Denise Gill as the Gooding County Clerk of the District Court and lists the same mailing address, phone, and fax for district court clerk contact.
The clerk role matters because Gooding County court users often need both case-file access and county recording help. Filed pleadings, orders, judgments, divorce decree records, probate filings, and certified court copies are handled through court-record channels. Deeds, mortgages, powers of attorney, marriage-license questions, and recorder fees use the county clerk, auditor, and recorder counter. Both functions point back to the courthouse and the same county clerk office contact path.

Gooding County Clerk Duties
The Gooding County Clerk of the District Court is the practical gateway for court records filed in Gooding County state trial courts. The county clerk, auditor, and recorder office also handles public recorder services that are not the same as a court case file. That distinction helps keep a request from being sent to the wrong desk.
- Route court case-record questions to the proper Gooding District Court or Magistrate Court channel.
- Help with clerk and recorder questions through the county office at the courthouse.
- Receive mail, phone, fax, and in-person contacts for clerk and recorder business.
- Provide local marriage-license requirement and fee information from the county FAQ.
- Publish recorder fee amounts for deeds, mortgages, assignments, powers of attorney, and other recorded instruments.
For court-file lookup, Idaho courts direct users to the iCourt Portal, a courthouse kiosk, or a request to the clerk where the case was filed. For recorded documents, use the Gooding clerk and recorder office. For a statewide criminal-history record, use Idaho State Police Bureau of Criminal Identification instead of the county clerk.
Gooding County Clerk Access Channels
Gooding County has several documented access channels. In-person requests go to the courthouse clerk and recorder office. Mail goes to the PO Box listed by the county and the Fifth Judicial District. Phone and fax are available for questions before a visit. Court-record questions can also use the districtwide court email published for Gooding County.
| Channel | Use | Published Detail |
|---|---|---|
| In person | Clerk, recorder, and court-copy routing | 624 Main Street, Gooding |
| Written requests and correspondence | PO Box 417, Gooding, ID 83330 | |
| Phone | Clerk and recorder questions | 208-934-4841 |
| Fax | Office correspondence | 208-934-5019 |
| Court email | District or Magistrate Court information | goodingcourts@gooding.idcourts.gov |
| Online court search | Public case status and hearing/payment entry points | iCourt Portal, subject to Rule 32 limits |
Note: The county navigation includes Submit a Request and Archived Records links, but the accessible research did not confirm a detailed online CivicPlus workflow beyond the captured public-records request form.
Request Certified Gooding County Copies
A certified copy is a court or office copy issued with official certification. Gooding research did not identify a local certified-copy fee schedule for court case documents, so the page should not promise a dollar amount for certification. Ask the clerk for the current charge, the accepted payment method, and whether the document can be mailed or must be picked up.
- Identify the record type first. Court orders, divorce decrees, probate papers, and judgments are different from recorder instruments.
- Search iCourt or gather known details such as party names, case number, filing date, document type, and the court division.
- Contact the Gooding clerk by phone, mail, fax, in person, or court email to confirm the file location and public access status.
- Ask for the certified-copy cost and payment method before mailing a request, since the research did not capture a Gooding court certified-copy amount.
- For sealed, exempt, juvenile, protected-person, or Rule 32-restricted records, expect denial, redaction, or a court-order process rather than routine copy release.
Gooding County Request Fields
The source inventory captured an official Gooding public-records request form at the county Document Center. It is not a court-specific copy form, but it is useful for what Gooding asks a requester to provide when seeking public records from a records custodian. It cites Idaho Code 74-102 and includes a mailing and telephone list acknowledgment tied to Idaho Code 74-120.
| Field or Control | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| TO: Records Custodian | Yes | Direct the request to the appropriate Gooding County custodian. |
| Date | Yes | Use the request date. |
| Request text | Yes | Form language requests examination and/or copying under Idaho Code 74-102. |
| Records requested | Yes | Describe the specific records sought. |
| Pertaining to myself | Optional | Checkbox for a self-related request. |

Gooding County Clerk Fees
The Gooding County Clerk FAQ gives recorder fees and marriage-license fees. These are not a complete court-copy fee schedule. Use them for recorder and marriage-license planning, then ask the clerk for current court-copy and certification amounts when requesting a filed case document.
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Documents not otherwise listed, first page | $10 |
| Documents not otherwise listed, each additional page | $3 |
| Deeds, release of mortgage, satisfaction of mortgage, substitution of trustee, 30 pages and under | $15 |
| Assignment, deed of trust, mortgage, 30 pages and under | $45 |

| Debit/credit card surcharge for marriage license | 2.5% plus $1 |
The recorder fee FAQ states that the first-page and additional-page rule began July 1, 2017 under Idaho Code Section 31-3205. It also lists deed categories such as foreclosure, satisfaction, distribution, reconveyance, gift, quitclaim, trustee, warranty, water, corporation deeds, and personal representative deeds in the $15 group.
Gooding County Marriage Records
Marriage-license questions also run through the Gooding County Clerk, Auditor & Recorder. The county FAQ says both parties must appear at the same time, bring valid U.S. government-issued identification, and bring original Social Security cards or last year's tax papers with the name and Social Security number printed on them. If a party is under 18, a mother or father must be present with a birth certificate.
For marriage and divorce certificates, Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is a separate state channel for Idaho events filed from May 1947 to present, subject to 50-year confidentiality rules. A divorce decree or filed divorce-case document, however, remains a court-file issue for the county where the divorce was granted.
Gooding County Clerk Context
The manifest image for this clerk page comes from the county's public defender directory, which reflects another courthouse-adjacent office involved when the court appoints counsel in eligible cases: Gooding County Public Defender directory.
That office is separate from the clerk, but the research ties both to court access because public-defender services are assigned by the Court and case records remain with the Gooding court clerk.
